Despite some rumors that the project may end up canceled, the first trailer for Disney’s latest live-action remake: Snow White has been released. This movie has been somewhat controversial for a while, but now that the trailer has actually been released, it seems that everyone has agreed: it looks terrible.
Now, I myself have two main issues with this movie. But, to be extremely charitable and fair, I will say this at least – the movie has not actually come out, and there have been movies in the past with trailer was awful, but the movie was not bad. So there is a chance, albeit slim, that this could end up not being as bad as it looks at the moment.
But, with that being said, I very much doubt that will be the case.
Now, the first issue I have with this applies to much of what Disney has been doing lately, which is taking their classic animated movies and remaking them as live action.
I often complain about sequels and franchise films being unoriginal, but this is about as unoriginal as it gets. The same studio which made the film originally, taking it and turning it into live-action to release as a new movie.
The other issue I have, is that this attempt to remake the classic animated film in a live-action format, appears to have completely failed. Just looking at the trailer, you can instantly tell that the vast majority of what you are seeing is CGI – or computer generated images – so basically, computer animation.
So, it is disappointing to say the least that this is the best they could do to remake what is arguably the most classic of all classic Disney films.
