“Sully” and the Miracle on the Hudson

Sully | Film Friday

I just finished watching Clint Eastwood’s Sully. While in certain ways, it’s not entirely the type of movie I find spectacular, this one proved itself to be quite a masterpiece.

This film portrayed the dramatic events of an emergency landing which Captain Sullenberger was forced to make on the Hudson River – an event which did occur in real life.

Just after taking off from LaGuardia Airport, the plane is struck by a flock of birds, which took out both the right and the left engines, rendering the plane impossible to fly.

Realizing that he did not have enough altitude to safely make it back to either LaGuardia or JFK in time, Captain Sullenberger made the decision to crash-land the plane in the Hudson River.
