Back in December of 2025, Universal Pictures released a trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project, The Odyssey. This film is expected to release in July of 2026 and in some ways seems to be Nolan’s most ambitious project to date. For instance, it is shot entirely with IMAX film cameras, which has never been done before for a feature film.

I am excited to go see this in theaters. But I do have to say, starting with this trailer and then given the past couple of weeks that have elapsed since this trailer was released, my anticipation that this project is going to be Nolan’s greatest achievement has been waning steadily.
